Day 5-6

The Mountains of Honduras

Hola and sorry I missed yesterday. I was going to write about the day after we got back from dinner, but then we did an hour of worship which I led. So when we finished that up it was time for the students to get in their rooms and well I ran into one in the hall when I was heading to the computer and she was sick, so I had to take care of her. That took till almost midnight, therefore no post.

Yesterday we had a day off. We did site seeing and shopping. We got to see the President of Huonduras up close as he was in Comayagua for the first time ever. What a celebration they had. We spent the afternnon by the pool at the hotel. Jack got a bloody nose doing a belly smacker and it took a while to get it to stop bleeding. I ended up shoving a tampon up his nose, very useful things they are and that did the trick. Many laughed and well his dad enjoyed it. In the late afternoon a group went to a church to do their dramas while the rest of us met up with them for dinner. Then the hour long worship when we got back. A good day.

Today we have several teens sick again with Diarrhea, Kendra and Kara stayed back from church with me. Kara is running a feverwith the big D. Jon Boudouris woke up with his eyes almost swallen shut. An allergic reaction of some type. I am treating him with Benadryl, no epi pen yet. The rest of the group is at church right now and then tonight we have church again and Nate Towns will be preaching. So if you read this before 8PM your time start praying for Nate.

Tomorrow we head back to San Pedro Sula. Pray for our drive back through the mountains, for the teens and adults not to have the big D. Also pray that as we are traveling around the next 2 days that we have our eyes open to the people in need around us and being willing to share our faith with them.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, pray for us and leaving comments. Here are some pics finally, enjoy.

  1. Thanks Stacey for keeping us updated on things. Kendra, I hope you are feeling better, I wish I could be there to help take care of you. Tell Stacey about all the medications I sent with you and see if she thinks you need any of those! Hopefully you will feel better by tomorrow for your ride over the mountain. Katie, I am glad I haven't seen your name yet in the list of the "wounded". Remember to stay hydrated and both of you enjoy your time in San Pedro Pula. We love you

  6. It is great to be able to follow along with you all because of Stacey's updates and reading everyone's comments. Ross, you would not believe how hard your Mom worked to try to get me to understand how the heck to post a comment. Of course (just like your typical Grams) my computer had so much overlapping security, it took a whole day to get the thing to allow me to see the right pop-ups. Computer Savvy Grams? Nada. Love you so much, and believe that God is truly in charge of your wonderful purpose and protection. Healing hugs to the sick ones. STAY HYDRATED. We are all praying daily for each of you. The mission team is on our prayer list at Turning Point UM in BG. Ross, you are ALWAYS on my prayer list. See you soon! Blessings! Grams

not too much longer! actually, i need to find out how to get to detroit airport and when i'm supposed to be there. we wouldn't want you stranded at ANOTHER airport, would we?!?!?!?

nate, you got to preach on father's day? how cool is that?! i know you took it to heart, spoke from the heart, and that your heart was filled with the spirit, 'cause that's just the way you roll. :-)

mango, nick wants you to come back so that he doesn't have to do dishes any more. i'm sure there are other reasons, but that's all i got from him today. i love you lots and miss you for many reasons. here's me being a mom: drink your water, mind your manners, floss daily (head flossing with twizzlers does NOT count!!).

you're all on our hearts and in our prayers constantly. keep loving on each other and on those kids...... 1 cor 13:7,8a love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. love never fails.

  9. You all have been on my mind so much. The updates have been such a blessing! It has really helped me to feel connected even though you are all so far away. It's concerning about all the illnesses. What is the main cause? The cause is probably very obvious to you. Just curious if it is related to water, food prep, lack of hygiene etc... I can't remember so many being ill last year on the Gabon trip or have I just forgotten.

I'll be thinking of you as you take your journey to San Pedro Sula. God be with you. You are each such a blessing, may you be blessed as well.

    Hugs CJ!!!! Love, Mom

  10. I will take a bloody nose from Jack any day over Jake breaking any bones on a trip. Many might not know what I am talking about but many know Jake is accident prone on these mission trips. I just hope someone got a picture of the tampon in the nose. Sounds like many good things are still happening on your trip. May God be with all on your journey back to San Pedro Sula.
Jake and Jack can't wait to see you when you get home. I love and miss you guys more than you know. Tilly and Kip are still going nuts, I am sure they will not leave your sides when you get back. See you soon. Many safe travels. Love you guys, Mom

  12. It is Monday, and you must all be excited and a bit worn out from all the good stuff you are putting-out there. Isn't it a great feeling when you can just put your "everyday-self" aside and let the Holy Spirit shine through. It is such a gift and a blessing to have the privilege of being a living part of God's plan for his people (especially those who do not know him in an "up close and personal way")! Thank you from all of us, who don't travel so well anymore for being the hands and feet and heart and arms of God to reach out and hug others -- ESPECIALLY THE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD. Please know that you are surrounded by love and faith, and prayers for "travel mercies", in His Name. Love you Bunches! Grams. (See you soon Ross!)

only one more day of your fabulous honduras adventure. i'm sure your hearts, minds and spirits have grown by leaps and bounds!!! we're praying for a safe and drama free return for everyone. nate - a little nervous about your directionally dysfunctional wife making it to dtw??? i'll make sure nick is with me! speaking of nick, we went fishing this evening. caught catfish and drums, did not bring any more back to our pond. promise. mango, remember the black and white "queen's duck"? he's still at the river. no raccoons babies, tho'.
anyway, virtual hugs and real prayers are being sent out to you and for you.
2 thes 2:16,17 may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. l/m

  14. Does anyone have the itenerary handy for their return?

I see only one flight from SAP (MHLM) heading to Atlanta, Delta 0406.

Any ideas which flight they are on from Atlanta to Detroit? I see 2 possibilites, assuming Delta, but they are scheduled at 8:24 and 10:00 and I thought we were told 9:45 so I'm just checking for details.

Good job everyone! We're very proud.

    Peace,
    Steve Cechner
